Wooded Lots Near Lake Bistineau

Tree Service in Doyline is mostly about wooded lots and lake property. Doyline is a village in southwest Webster Parish, an entry point to Lake Bistineau and Lake Bistineau State Park, about half an hour east of Shreveport. It had 674 residents in 2020 on about 3.3 square miles. Homes here sit among pines and hardwoods, and many are a short drive from the water.

A lake made by a log jam

Lake Bistineau has an unusual origin. A flood behind a log jam around 1800 created the lake, which later drained gradually. Dam construction began in 1935, and the state park opened in 1938, with more than 10 miles of hiking trails, camping and boating today. Cypress trees standing in the water are the lake's signature look.

What lake-side trees need

Trees along the lake and its coves often lean toward the open water, grow on soft soil and stand close to docks, decks and boathouses. Our work on these properties focuses on:

  • Leaning trees. We check whether a lean is old and stable or new and moving. New leans with cracked or lifted soil are serious.
  • Limbs over structures. We cut back limbs over boathouses, docks and decks, keeping the tree where possible.
  • Removals over water. Trees are taken down in small sections and lowered by rope, steered back toward land so wood stays out of the lake.
  • Wet ground. We use lighter equipment, mats or hand carrying where soil is soft.

Around the village

Away from the water, Doyline yards and wooded lots have the same needs as the rest of the region: removing dead pines, pruning big oaks over roofs, clearing storm-damaged trees from drives and grinding stumps. On larger wooded tracts we can also clear brush and small trees to open up space around a home or along a property line.

Near Camp Minden

The former Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant, now Camp Minden, sits near the village. Properties close to the camp or along its roads may have their own access considerations, and we plan routes and staging with that in mind.

Storm season

Wind can build across open water, and trees on the lake's edge take the full force of storms coming across it. A check before spring is a good idea for any large tree that could reach your house or dock. After a storm, call (318) 309-7506 and we will tell you what needs attention first.

Trees on wooded lots

On a wooded lot, the trees that matter most are the ones that could reach your house, your vehicles, your boat or your drive. Focusing on those first keeps costs sensible. Dead pines, trees with large cavities and trees leaning toward structures are usually the priority. Healthy trees farther back can usually be left alone, and they help break the wind for the trees closer in. We walk the property with you and mark what we recommend.

Doyline Questions

Can you remove a tree that is leaning over my dock on Lake Bistineau?

Yes. We climb and lower the tree in sections, steering wood away from the dock and the water. The estimate explains how we will rig it.

Do you trim cypress trees at the water's edge?

We can remove dead limbs and clear branches over docks and walkways on your property. Work in the lake itself may involve other rules, so it is worth checking first.

Is Doyline too far for you to come out?

No. Doyline and the Lake Bistineau area are within our service area.

What is the best season for tree work on lake property?

Late fall and winter are often best. Ground is firmer, leaves are off and the work is done before spring storms.
